A Ruscombmanor Township man was stabbed to death this past week while on a business trip to Bimini in the Bahamas.

Carl Yerger, president of the Oley Valley Youth League, was fatally stabbed in what investigators are saying was a random act of violence.

Yerger’s wife, Rebecca, received a call late Thursday night saying her husband was fatally stabbed, according to Wendy Serba, vice president of the league.

‘They said it was a random act of violence and that they had the suspects in custody,’ Serba said. ‘Other than that, we have no additional information.’

A report in the Bahamas Press says Yerger’s body was found lying on the grounds of his hotel in Bimini. It appeared to investigators that he had been fatally stabbed.

The report also said four men were in custody and were cooperating with authorities.

Yerger worked for CMC Milling Company in Fleetwood. He and his wife have two sons, 10-year-old Ty and 7-year-old Tate.

‘This is a huge loss for this community and we will rally around the family,’ said Susan Lackey, a friend and neighbor of the Yerger’s. ‘We’re absolutely shocked.’
