The spring musical presented by the BASH music department is an essential part of Boyertown tradition. In the past decade, big name shows such as ‘Phantom of the Opera’, ‘Les Miserable’, and ‘The Wizard of Oz’ have played to sold out crowds. Even less well known shows such as ‘Anything Goes’ and ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’ have delighted audiences. Participation in the musical production is such an enjoyable time that a number of students return as alumni to volunteer their time and assist with the production. Even parents, whose children have graduated, continue to aid with fundraising and organizing refreshments and lobby tables.

This year, the music students have been diligently rehearsing their roles to present the Tony award winning musical ‘Jekyll & Hyde’. Based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s Victorian era novel ‘The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’, ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ examines the inner conflict that exists between the forces of good and evil, civility and savagery, which reside within us all.

With just a few days left until the curtain rises, last minutes touches are being made to the sets, props are being gathered, and costumes will soon be fitted and pressed. The students are brimming with excitement. Seniors are ready for on last ‘Hurrah!’, while sophomores are getting a taste for their first major Boyertown production.

Show times are Thursday April 3, Friday April 4 and Saturday April 5 at 7 p.m. and Sunday April 6 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 and currently available for purchase.
