Berks Career and Technology Center students competed at the PENN HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) State Leadership Conference from March 12 – 14 at the Lancaster Host Resort & Conference Center in Lancaster.

Students from BCTC’s Dental Occupations, Health Occupations, Health Related Technology, Medical Health Professions, and Protective Services programs had an opportunity to showcase their talents in the PENN HOSA Competitive Events by competing against hundreds of students from across Pennsylvania.

BCTC students earned 12 Gold, 9 Silver and 11 Bronze Medals. By placing in the top three in their respective competitions, these 32 students are eligible to compete at the HOSA National Leadership Conference that will be held June 25 – 28 in Orlando, FL.

HOSA is a Career & Technical Student Organization open to students enrolled in the Healthcare and Protective Service programs. The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science education students, therefore, helping students meet the needs of the health care community.

West CampusEmily Ligowski, Schuylkill Valley, Protective Services: CPR, First place

Myles Wolf, Hamburg, Protective Services: CPR, First place

Paige Dodge, Hamburg, Health Occupations: Healthy Lifestyle, Second place

Rachel Szafranski, Hamburg, Health Occupations: Outstanding HOSA Chapter, Third place
