A tractor trailer truck crossed into the path of a Honda Accord on Route 737 in Greenwich Township at 10:53 a.m. April 18, leading to major injury for the woman driving the car.
Marley Stalker-Stempel, 23, Doylestown, was extricated from her Accord by Kutztown firefighters. She was transported via medical helicopter to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.
The truck driver and the driver and passenger of a third vehicle were not injured.
‘At this time, speed appears to be a factor,’ according to the investigating state police officer Joshua Lacey in a police release. ‘An investigation continues.’
A 2005 Freightliner Truck Tractor was traveling south on Route 737 in Greenwich Township when Steve Marseille, 27, Temple, failed to maintain control around a left hand curve north of Wiltrout Road and entered into the northbound lane. The truck’s left rear tires struck the front left corner panel of a Honda Accord which sustained heavy, disabling damage.
A Volkswagon Jetta, following behind the Honda Accord, was struck by a loose tire that came off the truck. The Jetta sustained minor damage to the front left corner panel.
All drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts. Paul Klee, 77, Douglassville, and his passenger Janet Klee, 76, were not injured.
The truck and Accord were towed from the scene by Wensel’s Towing. The Jetta was able to be driven safely from the scene.
Assisting at the scene were Kutztown EMS, Kutztown Fire Company and Fire Police, and Kempton Fire Company.
