A Berks County man is dead after his car left the road and struck a tree in Robeson Township Wednesday morning.

Nathan Crandall, 22, of the Reading area, according to the Berks County Coroner’s office was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:28 a.m. by Berks County Deputy Coroner Ken Moyer. The cause of death was likely head trauma, Moyer said.

According to Robeson Township Police, Crandall was traveling northbound on Route 10 north of Furnace Road when he failed to navigate an uphill curve to the left at about 5:10 a.m. The car left the road and the driver’s side door hit a tree.

The investigation is ongoing and police are unsure of what caused the vehicle to leave the road, Robeson Township Police Chief Mark T. Phillips said.

‘The weather was clear and the road was dry, so there was no road or weather element involved in the crash,’ he said.

Route 10 was closed between Furnace and Moyer roads into the afternoon while police investigated the accident.
