The Tri County Record was informed of an error printed in the April 22 issue regarding the Walk Like MADD 5k. Collin McElroy, Jerry Warfel, Kyle Marsh and Evan Pringle were incorrectly included in the article as having their lives in drunk or impaired driving accidents. Kate Leger, WLM Downingtown Coordinator, informed us that alcohol was not involved, the driver was speeding which is a type of impairment. “This is the reason the four boys were included in our statistics. There is no plan to mention these four during the opening ceremony.”
The Walk Like MADD 5K, held rain or shine, will take place at Struble Trail in The Ponds in Downingtown. Registration and check-in will begin at 9 a.m. at the Chester County Crimes Memorial.
“The goal of the walk is to focus on raising awareness to all types of impaired driving, not just alcohol,” said Leger.
