Recently 20 members of the Fleetwood Chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) were given a ‘behind the scene’ tour of HersheyPark from two executives.

On the first portion of the tour, Assistant General Manager, Jay Robertson, walked the students through the park discussing ride operations, cost analysis, ride placement, and budgeting. He also explained the business’ philosophy as being clean, green, family fun. The students were able to ask questions throughout the entire tour to aid in their learning.

The section portion of the tour consisted of John Nantz, Managing Director of Maintenance, leading the students through one of the warehouses of the property. The students were able to see and learn about the welding and ride maintenance departments, ride upholstery, roller coaster weather guidelines, painting, and lettering of rides and signs. Students were able to see and learn the responsibilities of each department and the importance that each department plays in the overall scope of the customer’s experience during their time at HersheyPark.

Both executives informed the students on the new initiatives that have been planned and are currently being implemented for the 2014 season. Overall, the students had an enjoyable time while learning about an amusement park.
