Pottstown woman, Boyertown man found passed out in vehicle, charged with endangering children

On Friday, May 9, at approximately 6:45 p.m., two area residents were cited for driving under the influence as well as endangering the welfare of children.

Trooper David Kedra of Pennsylvania State Police of Skippack, responded to Water Works Park in Trappe Borough following the report of two unconscious adults in a vehicle with two small children.

Upon the trooper’s arrival, Kedra observed Ellen Vaughn Thompson of Pottstown passed out on the ground outside of her vehicle. Nigel Leverne Stewart of Boyertown was reportedly passed out in the back seat of the vehicle. Two small children were strapped into car seats in the rear of the vehicle-a 1-year-old and an 8-month-old. Both children were transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Children and Youth Services was also contacted regarding the incident.

Thompson and Stewart were both charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of Children, Disorderly Conduct, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and public drunkenness. Thompson was charged with Driving under the Influence and Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended.

The following charges were filed at District Court 38-1-20.
