LIMERICK — With a decent weather forecast for the weekend, why not plan to attend the Pennies-A-Pound Airplane Rides this weekend at Heritage Field (formerly known as Limerick Airport)?
Located at 3310 W. Ridge Pike, this airport event is sponsored locally every year by the Eastern PA chapter of “The Ninety-Nines,” an organization of women pilots.
The 99s promote the advancement of aviation through education, scholarships, and sharing their wild passion for flight.
This year, the 99s are awarding five scholarships to women who are learning to fly or are advancing their aviation careers, all made possible by the funds raised from these inexpensive rides.
The rides will also entertain the family, perhaps stimulate an interest in aviation, and give a birds-eye view of our beautiful countryside.
Rides are available on Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, May 18, from noon to 5 p.m. Airplane loading for planes will stop before 5 p.m.
Pricing is based on the person’s weight at a cost of 20 cents per pound, with a $10 minimum and $30 maximum. Some weight restrictions may apply; planes will be flown weather permitting, and depending on pilot availability.
