The Kempton Pepper Jam will be held this Memorial Day weekend on the fairgrounds of the Kempton Community Center located at 83 Community Drive, Kempton. This food festival is centered around Chile Peppers and will feature delicious creations made with some heat as well as a some choices for the ‘not -so-hot crowd.’ More than 30 food vendors will be located on the scenic grounds sampling their hot sauces, salsas, mustards, jams, nuts and spice mixes. There will be some Chile pepper products that are not so ordinary like infused salts, dried pastas, coated nuts and pretzels. There will be plenty of ready to eat foods like Jambalaya, Gumbo, Jerk Chicken on a stick, noodles with a spicy peanut sauce, pulled pork, grilled shrimp, smoked brisket, as well as BBQ chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken tenders and so much more.

The weekend will also be filled with several music acts, craft vendors, children activities/crafts, a hot pepper eating contest and train rides on the neighboring WK&S Railroad. The festival activities operate Saturday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Cool the heat off with a stop at the beer tent or one of the local wineries that will join us for this festival. There will also be the freshest brewed tea, smoothies and Hawaiian shaved ice.

Admission is free for youths 12 years and younger. There is a cost for adult admission. Plenty of parking is available with a section reserved for handicapped guests.
