Boyertown’sannual Memorial Day parade will begin at the Boyertown High School Monroe Street entrance at 9:15 a.m. on Memorial Day, May 26. The parade will travel west on Philadelphia Avenue.

West Philadelphia Ave will be closed to traffic between Terrace Street and W. Second Street (in front of the cemetery) until the conclusion of the ceremony. Everyone is invited and encouraged to begin your Memorial Day celebration with this inspiring tribute to those who have served our country.

Fun Days will be held at Boyertown Community Park on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 29 to May 31. The Rosaire family of Florida will once again bring their loveable racing pigs. The races run approximately every two hours from the start of each day. There will be a variety of great food throughout the event. Come for dinner and stay for the fun.

Thursday night is 6 p.m to 10 p.m. and will feature our ‘Ride Special.’ The wristbands will be $18 per person and you can ride until 10PM for the evening. ‘Makin Music Gilbertsville’ with Michael Kropp, and Ditsy the Clown will be entertaining the younger members of your family with music, balloon sculpting, face painting and glitter tattoos. And once again, the ‘Boyertown Idol’ tryouts will be in the Rohrbach Pavilion starting at 6 p.m.

On Friday, the hours are 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. In addition to the rides and activities, Stephanie Grace will be performing in concert in the park at 7 to 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday, May 31, events will begin at noon. The bi-hourly pig races start at noon as well as local exhibits and demonstrations and continue throughout the day. A ‘ride special’ will be again offered from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The wristband offer will begin at 1 p.m. and will be good until 5 p.m.

The Boyertown Alumni Marching Unit Concert will be held in the Spaatz Band Shell at 7 p.m. The evening will end with our ever popular tradition of fantastic fireworks at approximately 9:45 p.m. Rain date for Saturday events only is Sunday, June 1.

The borough’s ‘Sensational Summer,’ activities along with a complete Fun Days schedule and an acknowledgement to our greatly appreciated sponsors will soon be mailed to the Boyertown Area. Extra copies will be available at the event and at Boyertown Borough Hall.

Fun Days is a fundraiser for the Community Park and is run by the Boyertown Park and Recreation Board. The borough appreciates the community’s support and hopes everyone has a wonderful time.

East Philadelphia Ave will be closed from Reading Ave to Franklin Street for the Boyertown Sidewalk Expo on Tuesday, June 10 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Rain date is Thursday, June 12.

Also, May 26 is EMS week. This is a great time to remember to send in your Boyertown Ambulance membership and to thank them for their dedication to the community.

The Borough of Boyertown 2014 Sensational Summer activities kicked off on April 26 with Earthfest held at the Boyertown Community Park. The event featured a shred event and electronics recycling, poster contest, and a Trash to Treasure contest. Guests enjoyed craft activities, fun, educational nature programs, pony rides and more. The butterfly tent and butterfly habitats were loved by all.
