Following a call to entrepreneurs across the region, a downtown gathering was held Tuesday for a day of networking and entertainment.
The Berks-Mont Business Association hosted its 49th Annual Sidewalk Expo on Tuesday, June 10, along East Philadelphia Ave. between Franklin Street and Reading Ave.
More than 100 vendors participated in the community-oriented event. Exhibitor’s booths were set up along the street for the duration of the event, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Features of the expo included give-away’s, a disc jockey, ventriloquist, Jerry ‘monkey man’ Brown, a petting zoo and prizes.
New this year, the Colebrookdale Railroad Preservation Trust sold raffle tickets for a future trip down the ‘Secret Valley Line’, as well as tee shirts and railroad souvenirs. The Trust had a crew of volunteers on hand to allow people to board the engine and caboose.
Following the expo, Boyertown Idol finals kicked off in front of Rita’s Water Ice. This is the 5th year for the Boyertown Idol Karaoke contest. Competing were the 12 finalists and the winner will be awarded a $500.00 grand prize. Six try-out dates are held prior to the event. Check out www.boyertownidol.com for the try-out dates and times.
