One local sushi restaurant is rolling out some new offerings for their customers. Fujiyama provides a complete dining experience of dinner and a show, in a variety of options to satisfy every customer.

Fujiyama Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar recently expanded with an additional dining area, bar, live entertainment and Sunset Lounge outdoor deck to offer an optimal night out for patrons. ‘This is all my design,’ Kim said, standing in the newest addition to the facility. In addition to the chefs visual performances behind the sushi bar and Hibachi grills, the restaurant is now catering to the customer’s auditory senses.

The upstairs deck and bar is not only stocked, but complete, with the setting views of the sun against the rolling hills of Berks County.

Thanks to the addition, Fujiyama can now offer live musicians and groups 7 to 11 p.m. every Friday and Saturday night.

‘We have new musicians every time,’ Jong Kim told Berks-Mont Newspapers. Genres range from soft -rock and jazz tunes to a 50s, 60s or 70s sound.

For those who love to perform themselves are welcome to come out for open mic nights the first and third Thursdays of every month.

The restaurant is located at 1495 Farmington Ave., Upper Pottsgrove, and has been owned by Jong Kim since September 2007. Kim said the building (previously The Halfway House) dates back to the 1700s.

Upcoming events include Open Mic Night 7 to 11 p.m. June 19; Barbara Phillips 7 to 11 p.m. June 20; Generations Band 7 to 11 p.m. June 21; Scott France 7 to 11 p.m. June 27 and MxA Band 7 to 11 p.m. June 28.

Fujiyama Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar is open 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday.
