Burglary at residencePennsylvania State Police report that they are investigating a burglary/criminal trespass which took place at the residence of a 40-year-old Kutztown woman on Grim Rd. in Maxatawny Twp. on June 10 at 8:40 p.m. The victim returned home and observed two possible white male suspects in her residence. The suspect(s) then fled the scene in a white Mazda sedan. No forcible entry was observed and no items were stolen. Anybody with information regarding this crime is asked to please contact PSP Reading Headquarters at (610)-378-4011 Attn. Trooper Brownback or, for confidential information, please contact Alert Berks Co. at 1-(877)-373-9913. A cash reward of up to $5,000 may be rewarded to anonymous persons who telephone the hotline with information which leads to arrest and indictment of the person(s) responsible for these felony offenses.

Assault at residenceState Police report that an assault took place at a residence on Poplar Rd. in Ruscombmanor Twp. on May 26 at 9 p.m. The victim, an 18-year-old Fleetwood female, was punched in the nose by 45-year-old Michele Lee Morgan, also of Fleetwood. A citation was/will be issued.

Unauthorized purchases, access device fraud

State Police report that an incident of access device fraud took place on the 400 block of E. Penn St. in Topton on May 20 at 5:45 p.m. The unknown suspects obtained the credit card information of a 33-year-old Topton man before making unauthorized purchases at an Easton Wal-Mart. An investigation is ongoing.

Crash on Pricetown RoadState Police report that a one vehicle crash took place on Pricetown Road in Ruscombmanor Twp. May 22 at 4:50 a.m. The known suspect was traveling east when their vehicle left the roadway and entered the eastbound berm. The vehicle then impacted a tree root and crashed. The driver was subsequently arrested for suspicion of DUI and related traffic offenses.

Vehicle collides with fence, mailbox & tree

State Police report that a one vehicle crash took place on Orchard Rd. in Ruscombmanor Twp. on May 20 at 2:20 p.m. Jainisse Ortiz-Merced, 25, of Reading was traveling northbound around a left curve at a speed greater than reasonable under the circumstances. As she exited the curve onto a straightaway, her 2003 Toyota Echo traveled approximately six feet northwest off of the west side of the roadway. As the car traveled off the roadway it rotated counter-clockwise approximately 90 degrees, continuing north and causing the right front of the vehicle to collide with a fence and mailbox. The vehicle then continued north across the driveway of a residence 722 feet south of Beidel Rd. and struck several more sections of fence and a small tree before coming to rest facing west on the west side of the roadway. Ortiz-Merced is charged with operating a motor vehicle too fast for conditions.

Memorial Day EnforcementPennsylvania State Police Report that patrol members of their Troop L in Berks County (Reading & Hamburg Stations) engaged in aggressive enforcement activities over the Memorial Day holiday period. During that span, 268 speeding citations were issued, 39 seatbelt citations and warnings were issued, 3 child passenger citations were issued and 16 DUI arrests took place. 494 other citations were issued for miscellaneous offenses and 14 crashes, 3 of which were alcohol-related and 5 of which involved bodily injury to an individual, were charted.
