DOUGLASS (Berks) – A 7-year-old boy is in the hospital after being hit by an SUV Wednesday afternoon.

The West Orange, N.J., boy was at the AEC 2014 Camp Meeting hosted by the Pine Forge Seventh-day Adventist Church when the accident occurred. The event draws hundreds of church members from around the nation.

Around 3:10 p.m., the boy ran out in front of a 2014 Ford Explorer driven by James Mcrea, 50, of Springdale, Md., police said.

Mcrea was turning left onto Pine Forge Road from a driveway, police said.

The boy was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital for treatment. Calls to the hospital for an update on his condition have not been returned.

There was a male passenger in the Ford at the time of the crash, according to police. The passenger’s age is unknown.

Police are not pursuing charges of any kind against Mcrea at this time.
