One vehicle crash on Hawk Mountain Road

Pennsylvania State Police report that a one vehicle crash occurred on Hawk Mountain Road at its intersection with the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary entrance in Albany Twp. on June 28 at 12:54 p.m. Kenneth M. Nicholls, 19, of Norristown, was attempting to turn left into the driveway for the Hawk Mountain Visitor Center when he lost control of his 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer and struck a metal gate post. The vehicle came to rest at the point of impact on the south side of Hawk Mountain Road. Nicholls and the three passengers were no injured in the crash.

No injuries in two vehicle crash in Upper Tulpehocken Twp.

Pennsylvania State Police report that a two vehicle crash occurred on I-78 near mile marker 21.8 in Upper Tulpehocken Twp. on June 26 at 11:48 a.m. A 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound in the left lane of I-78 as well as a 2004 Jeep Cherokee which was traveling in front of the Silverado. The driver of the Cherokee came upon slowed/stopped traffic in both westbound lanes due to PennDOT maintenance, and the vehicle was brought to a safe stop. The driver of the Silverado observed the slowed/stopped traffic, but failed to safely bring the vehicle to a stop. The front bumper/grill of the Silverado impacted against the rear bumper of the Cherokee. After impact, both vehicles were driven to the south side shoulder of the westbound lane close to the concrete center barrier. Both vehicles were able to be safely driven from the scene. The drivers and passengers in each vehicle were all wearing their seat belts and were not injured as a result of the crash.

Retail Theft from Walmart in Tilden Twp.

Pennsylvania State Police report that the accused, Donna Marie Conrad, of Reading, entered Walmart at Tilden Ridge Road in Tilden Township on June 22 at 8 p.m. and proceeded to conceal one package of T-bone Steak, two DVD movies, one bottle of salad dressing and one package of salad. Conrad then exited the store, but was confronted by Walmart Loss Prevention Officials. Conrad was arrested for Retail Theft. Charges were filed at District Court.

Woman arrested for suspicion of DUI

Pennsylvania State Police report that the suspect, Kelly Renee Free, of Auburn, was operating a motor vehicle on Route 61 near Zion’s Church Road in Perry Twp. on June 21 at 1:46 a.m. when she was stopped for committing a traffic violation. Free was subsequently arrested for suspicion of DUI. Investigation continues.

Retail Theft from Cabela’s in Tilden Twp.

Pennsylvania State Police report that the suspect, Alvin Charles Jones II, of Pottsville, traveled to Cabela’s in Tilden Twp. by vehicle on June 21 at 5:17 p.m. Once inside, Jones concealed a black Carhartt folding wallet offered for sale by Cabela’s on his person and exited the store without paying. Charges against Jones will be filed at District Court for Retail Theft.
