Boyertown-Friends, family and community members gathered inside Frecon Farms on Friday for the ribbon cutting and official grand opening of the farm’s new bakery.
Josh Smith, Sales and Marketing Director, said ‘I’ve been here all day. We really can’t bake enough pie.’
The celebration took place during the week-long Annual Peach Jubilee. Samples of peach donuts, peach pie, and peach cider were available for tasting.
Steve Frecon, co-owner of Frecon Farms, cut the ribbon and declared the bakery officially open. He was congratulated with a round of applause from the audience and greeted with handshakes and hugs from his supportive family and friends.
In attendance was Larry McElroy, owner of McElroy Contracting, who did the expansion for Frecon Farms. ‘My sons grew up with the Frecon family. Steve had this idea and asked me to help him put it into effect,’ said McElroy. ‘My son built the counter top for the bakery. It’s applewood that was sitting in the Frecon’s barn that was cut down by their grandfather. It really gives the place a personal touch.’
Main Street Manager Adrianne Blank and Boyertown Mayor Marianne Deery were also in attendance.
The ribbon cutting was sponsored by Building a Better Boyertown.
