The Blue Devils, a drum and bugle corps part of Drum Corps International, will be bringing their talent to Hamburg as they rehearse at Hamburg Area High School stadium starting July 30.

Not only will music students and the community have the chance to see the 15-time World Champion marching unit rehearse, but they will also be treated to full run-throughs 30 minutes prior to the end of each rehearsal.

“The Music Department is absolutely thrilled to have an ensemble of this caliber visiting Hamburg! It is a GREAT opportunity for our students to witness such talented musicians and we are truly looking forward to their visit,” said Megan Reimer, Hamburg Area Middle/High School band director. “This is an excellent way to inspire our students and promote music in our community!”

Though the visit for the group is organized by the governing body of DCI, the Blue Devils specifically request Hamburg as a rehearsal location during the DCI season.

“We have become so comfortable there we request it each year,” said Patrick Seidling, of the Blue Devils.

During their stay in Hamburg, the band will be traveling to Rutgers University and Allentown for shows.

Rehearsals are free and open to the public throughout the four-day stay.

Schedule is as follows: July 30 – Rehearsal from 1 to 5 p.m. and 6:30 to 10 p.m.; July 31 – Rehearsal from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (with lunch break); Aug. 1 – Rehearsal from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m.; Aug. 2 – Rehearsal from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2 to 5 p.m. and 6:30 to 10 p.m.

The Hamburg Area Music Association will have refreshments available for purchase on Friday, Aug. 1 from 2 to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

If you want to see a high caliber musical performance and drill, be sure to head over to the stadium to see the Blue Devils as they rehearse.
