The focus of the Aug. 4 Boyertown Council Meetings was on the upcoming Boyertown Area Responsible Canine Owners dog park project. Vicki Hughes of BARCO discussed the updates from the previous meeting in regards to the concerns of the wet-lands disturbance, max capacity limitations, and membership benefits.

Brian Seidel, site designer, revised the plans to contain a concept of a separated park for different size dogs. Seidel’s model included an L- shaped design with a main entrance. The small dog park side is estimated at 19,000 square feet and the large side estimated 27,000 square feet. Seidel stated the plans are meant to blend in with the park and make it a great addition to the community park.

Council members expressed concerns over size limitations and proximity to disc golf course and agreed to set up a meeting with Seidel and BARCO at the park to further discuss the building concepts. However, the council did approve for BARCO to use the Boyertown Community Park as the designated address on the grant applications, contingent upon securing a lease agreement from the council.

Hughes said they are projecting the first stage of the development to begin in the fall of 2015.
