Salem EC Church, 2150 Old Route 22, Lenhartsville, is gearing up for its 6th Annual Pig Roast and Car Show on Saturday, Sept. 20. People from across the region are expected at this popular event, which draws those who love cars, good food and a fun, family-friendly Saturday.

Gates will open at 11 a.m. for the car show, which will run from noon to 3 p.m. This outdoor event will include classic vehicles, hot rods and – new this year! – motorcycles. Guests will be asked to vote for their favorite and prizes will be awarded to the most popular vehicles. In addition, door prizes featuring a bucket load of car-pampering products will be awarded to random winners.

In conjunction with this show is the antique tractor display and competition. Like last year, this portion of the event will include classic farm vehicles from around the region.

Looking at all those vehicles can work up appetites, and visitors will flock to the tempting aroma from the Pig Roast. Meals, served on site and “to go” from noon to 6 p.m., will feature generous portions of roasted, pulled pork from local hogs. In addition, each meal will include applesauce, macaroni salad, baked beans and a roll. Drinks are also included with each meal ticket.

Got a sweet tooth? Options will include an array of homemade desserts, available for a donation. Also, Candy’s Homemade Ice Cream, Shoemakersville, will be sold from a trailer out front near the cars.

Children will like the ice cream, and they will love special activities planned just for them. A “Touch the Truck” exhibit, which was introduced with great success at last year’s event, will again be set up outside the building. Inside the gym, kids are welcome at the Pig Pen Activity Station, which will offer art projects, giveaways and prize drawings.

Back this year is the Silent Auction. Items for sale will include theme baskets, gift certificates from area restaurants and stores, home decor, excursions and more. There will also be Guess the Weight of the Truck and Guess the Weight of the Hams contests.

Finally, the Keystone Miller Bloodmobile will be on site. Donors may give blood from 12 to 3 p.m.

Advance tickets for the Pig Roast are available now for adults. Children under 10 can get their tickets for free.

Those interested in entering the car show should register by Sept. 13 for a reduced rate. They may also register the day of the show. All car show participants will receive a meal ticket with entry fee.

Questions about the event can be directed to Salem EC Church by phone, 610-562-5033. Information will also be posted on the church’s Facebook page, “WeAreSalem.” The event will be held rain or shine.
