The gloomy skies and often times steady, heavy rain may have washed out quite a few events on Saturday, Sept. 13, but not the third annual Strausstown Community Fall Festival at Strausstown Lions Club Park.

Though the rain may have kept a few people home and limited the number of vendors and activities, the members of Zion Blue Mountain Church did not let Mother Nature stop them. Umbrellas bobbed around the park as attendees looked at the items from vendors huddled under tents and after the attendees headed to the pavilion to enjoy some soup under cover from the rain and listen to the musical entertainment on the stage.

This year there was a chili cook-off and tasting that seemed to fit in perfectly with the weather as a way to stay dry and warm up a bit. Along with the cook-off there were a few old fashion carnival games, a Chinese auction, jewelry, crafters, musical entertainment and more.

Even with the wet conditions, those in attendance had smiles on their faces while they chatted with friends, old and new.

Though it tried, Mother Nature and the rain could not stop this fall festival.
