Virginville >> The Art of the Harvest Dinner combines the art of food, wine and paintings at Virginville Hotel Sept. 20.

Virginville Hotel’s Chef John Warner, in collaboration with Kempton artist Jonathan Bond and Bernville wine maker Tom Calvaresi, presents a four course dinner paired with wine and a live art demo.

“They will all be here showcasing their talents as far as food, art and wine making,” said Wendy Hess, hotel co-owner with her husband Richard.

Hosting a wine or beer dinners for the last couple of years, this is the first year the hotel added art to the event.

Why art? “Why not?” responded Wendy.

“Chef John is an artist himself with him preparing the food. The act of making wine is an art, so why not add the paintings and an artist to go with it. We feature Mr. Bond’s art in our dinning room so it is a perfect match to expose him more,” said Wendy.

Her favorite part about hosting the dinner is seeing the guests being entertained.

“Getting to experience new foods, the collaboration with the wine and the foods, and how well it goes together and just an awesome evening, something different for them,” she said.

Wendy said Virginville Hotel’ aims to offer something different.

For couples, she said it’s a nice evening out.

“It’s dinner, it’s entertainment, it’s just get away from it all. There’s no pressure. It’s laid back, it’s relaxed and usually you’re amongst friends,” said Wendy. “And if you don’t know the people who are sitting with you, by the end of the night they become your new friends.”
