On Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. the Reading Symphony Orchestra kicks off the 102nd Season at the Santander Performing Arts Center. The RSO will be featuring two world renowned soloists, Timothy Lees, violin and Ilya Finkelshteyn, cello. They will be performing the Brahms Double Concerto for violin, cello and orchestra. Also on the program is the Ancient Airs and Dances Suite No. 1 composed by Respighi and Symphony No. 4 composed by Tchaikovsky. There will also be a special opening night party before the concert.
Timothy Lees, a native of Philadelphia, has held the title of Concertmaster of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra since 1998. Mr. Lee is a devoted chamber musician and has performed with many other famous musicians during his career including Peter Wiley, Ida Kavafian, Joseph Silverstein and many more. He has also soloed numerous times with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. Ilya Finkelshteyn, born in Russia, has been the principal cellist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra since 2009. He is also a dedicated chamber musician and has performed with a countless number of musicians including Hilary Hahn, Richard Goode, Vadim Repin and many others. Ilya has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia as a chamber musician, soloist and recitalist. He has soloed with many orchestras including the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. Ilya Finkelshtyen is currently on faculty at University of Cincinnati College- Conservatory of Music.
