On Thursday, Sept. 4, representatives of Amity Elementary Center donated a collection from students and their families to the Keystone Soldiers, a volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to supporting those who have served for the country. The elementary school asked students to bring in loose change during the 2012 and 2013 Red Ribbon week, held in October.
‘We have themes for each day of Red Ribbon week and one day is the theme of ‘Drugs Don’t Make Cents’ where students, families and staff bring in loose change to donation to a good cause,’ Celine Crouse, guidance counselor at AEC, said.
The school raised a total of $2,398.42 for the Keystone Soldiers. Sgt. Walter J. Harman, PA Army National Guard, accepted the donation on behalf of the organization.
