People from all over, local and not so local, made their way to Salem EC Church in Lenhartsville on Saturday, Sept. 20, for the sixth annual Pig Roast and Car Show.

The fun, family friendly event featured a car show including classic vehicles, hot rods and new this year motorcycles. Attendees were asked to vote for their favorite with the three most popular cars and three most popular motorcycles winning plaques and prizes. There were also door prizes as well.

Show winners for cars were Carl Volker in first, Gordon Degler in second, and Ervin Steinley in third. Show winners for motorcycles were Carl Hess in first, Chris Joseph in second and Ken Andreas in third.

A total of 75 cars and seven motorcycles participated in this year’s car show. For those vehicle enthusiasts there was also a farm tractor display and competition during which attendees could vote on their favorite tractors.

Once attendees took a look or two at the vehicles, they headed inside the church for the pig roast. Many commented on the meal which was not so much of a surprise since Salem EC Church recently racked up a number of wins in their category during the Taste of Hamburg-er Festival. After lunch or an early dinner, there was a variety of delicious desserts and Candy’s Homemade Icecream at the event.

Inside was a silent auction featuring many items from local businesses, organizations and individuals that people bid on throughout the day. For the children there was a Pig Pen with a variety of activities to keep them busy as well as the chance to “touch the truck” outside featuring one of VJ Wood Towing and Recovery’s vehicles. This year also featured a hay bale toss for all ages with quite a few people showing how far they could toss the bale. For those interested in donating blood, a Miller Keystone Bloodmobile was on site as well.

The cloudy skies helped make for a comfortable day outside and no rain which helped make for another successful car show and pig roast at Salem EC Church.
