The staff of The Heritage of Green Hills, an active 55+ living community in Shillington, participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on Monday, Aug. 25. Staff participating in the challenge included Cheryl Anderson, community life services director; Kate Fisher, dining room manager; Mark Olszewski, food and beverage director; Rebecca Parish, housekeeper; Elizabeth Proffitt, sales and marketing director; and Douglas Walther, executive director. In addition to getting doused with ice-cold water, each of the participants donated $100 to the ALS Association.

About the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge: The challenge, raises money for ALS research and care services for patients and their families by daring individuals to douse themselves with buckets of ice-cold water and/or make a pledge of $100 to the Association. As of August 29, three million individuals had donated more than $100 million through the challenge. ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects never cells in the brain and the spinal cord. There is no cure for the disease.
