Keats describes Autumn as a ‘season of mists and mellow fruitfulness …’ Around here, when the leaves start to change in Boyertown Park it can only mean one thing, Turning Leaf Fall Festival. For six years this festival has been luring festival-goers, promising delicious food, jammin’ music and an all around great time. This year, the 7th year, will be no exception. Turning Leaf Fall Festival will be held 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 (rain date Oct. 12).

The Rotary will be once again holding their 5k Run and Family Fitness Walk starting the festivities at 9 a.m. at the Rohrbach Pavilion. By the time the runners and walkers finish the other events should be ready to swing into high gear. This year’s activities include crowd favorites like pumpkin painting, scarecrow making, a moon bounce and the hayride that will be running from 1 to 5 p.m. Come and see what games, crafters and artisans will line the walking trail under the canopy of the park’s giant trees. A car show has been added this year and you can also make your own caramel apple!

Do not worry if you work up an appetite as you wander through the festivals events as the food vendors are also one of the great things about Turning Leaf. Among others The Jaywalkers Relay for Life Team always keeps the savory smells floating through the park. Again this year the Unity Walk will be joining forces with the Turning Leaf Fall Festival. The message of ‘No Place for Hate’ will be demonstrated with a Unity Walk that will assemble, leave and return to the park at 2 p.m.

Music is another of Turning Leaf Fall Festival’s favorite activities. Through the generous donation of their time and talent the festival is a great place to see some of the area’s top local talent. Returning Turning Leaf favorites include Middle Class Madness, Yolanda Spohn and Jeremy Simon. New acts for this year include 31 Bad Habits, the seven piece family band Silhouette Song and 11A. 11A will be following their Turning Leaf engagement with a much anticipated return to the Historic State Theater Oct. 17.

The Turning Leaf Fall Festival is sponsored by the Boyertown Parks and Recreation Board in cooperation with the Colebrookdale Twp. Recreation Board. A small fee may be charged for some of the activities at this event and a portion of the proceeds return to fund not only Turning Leaf but the many Boyertown Parks and Recreation activities throughout the year.
