On Friday Oct. 3, as part of a ‘Martial Artists Against Bullying Campaign,’ about 40 students and friends from Ellixson’s Tae Kwon Do Academy gathered for a very worthwhile social discussion: bullying.

Although bullying seems to be a ‘hot topic’ in our culture and in the media nowadays, Ellixson’s Tae Kwon Do Academy has been educating it’s members and the community on Bullying and how to handle Bullying situations for over 20 years, but now, because of the social climate, Donnie Ellixson Jr, owner of the Academy, is going to go on an aggressive campaign in the Boyertown Community to speak, educate and inspire the youth on this very disturbing and growing social issue.

Ellixson Jr. has said, ‘The Martial Arts Community and Ellixson’s Tae Kwon Do specifically is in a perfect position to assist our youth in handling these unhealthy situations. Our Martial Artists Against Bullying (MAAB) seminars aim to accomplish 3 major goals, Awareness, Avoidance and Assertiveness.’

He went on to say, ‘this last weeks seminar was a blast! We had kids ranging from 5 to 15. The kids really had a good time with the discussions. Through role-playing of real-life scenarios, you could literally see the empathy and compassion come out of them. It was awesome!’

Research shows that bullying peaks in the fifth, sixth and seventh grades.

The goal of this program is to minimize the effects of predatory behavior in grade school and middle school-ages children. This will be accomplished through role playing, small group discussions and empathy training.

Any schools, groups or organizations that are interested in Mr. Ellixson doing a seminar on Bullying, please contact Ellixson’s Tae Kwon Do Academy at 610-367-1670.
