The hills of Daniel Boone School District are alive with “The Sound of Music.” Daniel Boone High School’s production of “The Sound of Music” will be hitting the high school’s stage Nov. 21.
Students auditioned in June and began rehearsing over the summer. The cast is really looking forward to putting on a good show following their performance of Shrek the Musical last year.
In order to grow their Orchestra’s sound in this year’s production. John Williams, pit conductor, is hiring a few professional musicians to work with the student instrumentalist. To fund this, the cast of “The Sound of Music” is hosting a spaghetti and song night.
The event will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church located on Route 662, on Friday, Oct. 17. All ticket proceeds benefit the musical. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the cast will serve a delightful Italian meal. This dinner is to be followed by a cabaret at 7:15 p.m. featuring different show tunes. The students have selected their individual songs, some modern, and some classic, to perform. There are also a few group numbers that students have led in directing and choreographing.
“The girls in the cast are performing a really upbeat, ‘can’t stay in your seat’ kind of song. Lindsey and I decided to throw it together and it has turned into in to a really great experience,” Jordan Koury, cast member playing the Baroness Schrader in Daniel Boone’s production said.
The show will also give some previews of “The Sound of Music” production in November. Including a performance by the choir of nuns, and the song Something Good sung by Maria, portrayed by Sophie Gialloreto, and the Captain Von Trapp, played by Ryan Young. The students playing the Von Trapp family will be performing the number So Long Farewell.
To support the arts in Daniel Boone High School and this musical production come out for a night of good food and talent. This exuberant cast cannot wait to see you there.
