The results of the recent Daniel Boone School District Capital Reserve Study indicate that $41 million is needed the next 20 years to keep all district buildings operational.

Facilities Committee Chairperson Tamara D. Twardowski delivered the news at the school board’s Oct. 13 Committee of the Whole meeting.

She said the five-year repair estimate is $8.1 million.

“We will have to look at how we’re going to budget for that,” said Twardowski, referring to the Finance Committee and district administration.

The administration has not yet released its 2014-15 budget draft of standard revenue and expenses.

“I can’t believe that all the High School roof-top units will all go at once,” Finance Committee Chairman Andrew Basile, referencing one part of the study, said.

“We’ll need to drill at those numbers and see how they might be [distributed over 20 years] — how they might occur,” said Basile.

Board members will now review the Capital Reserve Study draft before it is placed on the agenda for approval.

The five-week Capital Reserve Study process began Aug. 11 with a kick-off meeting and engineers touring district buildings.

Board members approved on April 28 the Precision 20/20 Full Reserve Study Proposal at a cost of $69,500.

The board approved 7-1 the new district policy #808.1 — “Video/Audio Monitoring on School Buses.”

Board member Carol Beitz opposed the motion.

Board member Michael D. Wolfe was absent from the meeting.

School buses are already recording video and audio will now be added to that equipment.
