A.J. Blosenski Inc. Trash and Recycling Service presented a donation of $500 in memory of Joseph Blosenski Jr., Honey Brook, to the Morgantown Area Business Association on Oct. 21.
Robert Hart, Director of Sales & Marketing at A.J. Blosenski Inc., presented the donation to Dave Hinkel, MABA’s treasurer, during the MABA breakfast meeting at the Windmill Restaurant.
A.J. Blosenski Inc. normally participates in the MABA Golf Outing but this year the company was not able to attend because the event was held the same day as the Celebration of Life Service Sept. 26 for Blosenski, or better known as Big Joe.
“We thought it would be a great tribute to Big Joe,” said Hart about the donation. “He was well known in the industry and in the area.”
Hart said about 700 people attended the service to pay their respects.
“He was loved, respected and admired by this entire family and all the employee’s of A.J. Blosenski as well as others in the community as well in our industry,” said Hart. “He will be missed by family and everyone at our company. Unfortunately Joe’s passing happened the same week as the MABA Golf Outing. Due to this situation we could not participate in the outing this year but instead have donated in Joe’s honor and memory $500 directly to the MABA fund. Both Joe and Anthony, his son, have supported many charitable organizations over the years and this was a fitting way to honor Joe for a life well lived.”
“Thank you, for the contribution,” said MABA President Mark Cummins. “I’m sorry to hear about Big Joe.”
Blosenski lost his battle with liver cancer on Sept. 23 at the age of 71.
Founder of Blosenski Disposal Service, he started in 1962 with a pickup truck in his neighborhood and continued to own and operate the refuse collection business for 30 years. More recently he was vice president of A.J. Blosenski Inc. Trash and Recycling Service, which is owned by his son Anthony Blosenski Sr.
“He was just a really good person,” said Hart.
