Pending investigation of New Holland burglary
NEW HOLLAND BORO, Oct. 26 – New Holland Police Officer Bitner responded to the 400 Block of West Main Street on Oct. 26 after the report of a burglary. The New Holland resident reported that sometime over the weekend, someone broke a window on her front porch and stole a picture that was located in her residence. A chair located outside the home was also damaged. The incident is currently under investigation.
Unknown actor(s) damage trailer
NEW HOLLAND BORO, Oct. 25 – At 6:20 p.m. on Oct. 25, Officer Zimmerman of the New Holland Police responded to the residence of Jeff Page, 39, who reported an incident of criminal mischief. Page told police that the unknown actor(s) damaged his trailer as is sat to the rear of his East Jackson Street property. The actor(s) threw rocks against it, leaving dents. The cost of damage is unknown.
One-car crash in Earl TownshipEARL TWP, Oct. 28 – At 2 a.m. on Oct. 28, New Holland resident Kathryn Edwardsen ran her car off the roadway and into a field on North Shirk Road at Huyard Road, in Earl Township. New Holland Police responded. No injuries were reported, and the vehicle was towed from the scene. Edwardsen was issued a citation for the incident.
Two-car crash at Route 322, Grist Mill Road
EARL TWP, Oct. 30 – At 2:32 p.m. on Oct. 30, Chief Bowers of New Holland Police investigated a crash at the intersection of Route 322 and Grist Mill Road. Driver Janet Pinkerton, 40, of New Holland turned left onto Grist Mill Road. She over-steered and drove into the side of a truck operated by Tom Burnley, 58, of Spring City. No injuries were reported. Both cars sustained damage but did not require towing.
Police respond to trespass in progress
EARL TWP, Oct. 30 – At 1:25 p.m. on Oct. 30, New Holland Police Officer Bitner responded to the 100 Block of Jayln Drive after receiving a report of trespassing in progress. Upon arrival, officers found Elizabeth Ruiz, 44, of Lancaster on the premises of a former employer. A supervisor for the business showed police a copy of a written letter to Ruiz, telling her to not come back for any reason without permission. A non-traffic citation was filed to Ruiz for Defiant Trespass.
Ephrata woman arrested on harassment warrant
NEW HOLLAND BORO, Nov. 3 – At 6:11 a.m. on Nov. 3, Natalie Jones, 19, of Ephrata was found sleeping in the Burkhart Park located in the 200 Block of Locust Street. Officer Zimmerman found Jones to have an outstanding harassment warrant issued from Ephrata Police. Jones was taken into custody and turned over to the Ephrata Police Department.
Local man arrested for terroristic threats, released on unsecured bail
NEW HOLLAND BORO, Nov. 5 -New Holland Police Officer Heisse arrested Philip Weaver of New Holland for Terroristic Threats and Recklessly Endangering Another Person on Nov. 3 at his E. Main Street residence. Weaver reportedly pointed a handgun at his downstairs neighbors and yelled obscenities at them during a disturbance. Weaver was sent to Lancaster County Central Booking for arraignment. On the morning of Nov. 5, MDJ William Benner released Weaver on unsecured bail.
Police investigate cause of one-car crash
EARL TWP, Nov. 4 – At 9:21 p.m. on Nov. 4, Officer Bitner of New Holland Police responded to the 500 Block of E. Farmersville Road for a vehicle crash. Codey Short, 20, of Lebanon was traveling northbound on the road when a vehicle traveling the opposite way entered his lane. Short was forced off the side of the road, where he struck a large rock. There was minimal damage to Short’s vehicle. The other vehicle continued traveling southbound and did not stop. An investigation is ongoing.
