Blandon man, 48, arrested on charges of child porn possession, dissemination

Douglas George Werley, 48, of West Walnut Tree Drive, Blandon, was arrested Nov. 12 on charges of Possession of Child Pornography, Dissemination of Photos/Films of Child Pornography.

In May of 2014, Detective(s) from the District Attorney’s Child Abuse Unit and a cross designated Berks County Detective from the Lower Heidelberg Police Department initiated an investigation into the sharing of child pornography via the internet. During the investigation, detectives identified a computer with the Internet Protocol (IP) address of a potential candidate with files of investigative interest.

In August of 2014, detectives secured a Court Order for disclosure of records pertaining to the aforementioned IP address. Pursuant to that order, the subscriber for the IP address was Douglas George Werley, West Walnut Tree Drive, Blandon.

On Sept. 4, 2014, Detective served a search warrant at the aforementioned address. Detectives seized a Dell desktop computer from the defendant’s residence. A forensic examination of the computer was performed and detectives located over 500 digital images/videos of child pornography on this computer.

As a result, detectives obtained a warrant of arrest for Mr. Werley for the violations of the PA Crimes Code Section 6312 (c)(d) Sexual Abuse of Children. The warrant was issued today, (11/12/14), by Magisterial District Judge Thomas M. Gauby, Sr.

Mr. Werley surrendered to detectives Nov. 12 at MDJ Gauby’s office. Werley was accompanied by his attorney. Judge Gauby set $25,000 unsecured bail on the defendant.
