Impact Twirlers, a baton twirling organization based out of Boyertown, had a very busy fall competition season that lead to three awards in October alone.

Amber Fedchak, Director of Impact Twirlers and long-time baton twirler herself, said, “This fall season has been great for the Impact Twirlers as we won second place at the Topton Halloween Parade on Oct. 11, first place at the Boyertown Halloween parade on Oct. 18, and first place at the King Frost parade in Hamburg on Oct. 25.”

The group is made up of girls ages 4 to 20 and coached by a team of dedicated women.

“We decided to begin our own organization as we felt we needed to show our passion of the sport and teach others in the community what baton twirling is all about. It isn’t just marching or throwing a baton in the air,” said Fedchak.

With 13 years experience teaching the sport, the director’s passion for educating the art of baton twirling, dance concepts and gymnastic moves leads to long-term bonds. “My greatest accomplishment in the past year is seeing my students come together as a team and show the community their amazing talent as they have become so close to call themselves family,” said Fedchak. Not only do students learn how to twirl up to four batons at a time, but also fire batons, hoop batons, flags, flag batons, streamer sticks and more.

Parades aren’t the only time to show off their skills. In spring, the team also participates in competitions in the Lehigh Valley and Berks regions. Sign-ups start in January for the spring season.
