Two people from Strausstown and Shartlesville were taken into custody and are facing the following charges: Possession with the Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, Delivery of Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Criminal Conspiracy.

The Berks County Drug Task Force and the Pennsylvania State Police conducted a joint drug investigation that began in August of 2014 into a methamphetamine distribution operation based on complaints from several members of the community in the Strausstown and Shartlesville areas.

A Pennsylvania State Trooper was working undercover and made several purchases from suspect Angela Kauffman, of Strausstown. Sales ranged from $450 to $650. Every time the undercover officer ordered methamphetamine, Kauffman would leave her home and meet the second suspect Scott Grynstal, of Shartlesville,

The investigation continued and resulted in a search warrant being executed at Grynstal’s residence in the 5600 block of Main Street in Shartlesville. District Judge Andrea Book in Bernville issued the search warrant on Nov. 7. That same day at 4:55 p.m. the drug task force executed the search warrant.

A brown shed adjacent to the residence was set up to facilitate the sales of methamphetamine. The shed was equipped with security cameras to view the exterior providing counter surveillance warning the suspect Grynstal on anyone approaching including law-enforcement. Grynstal was inside the shed when the warrant was executed by the Berks County Drug Task Force and Pennsylvania State Police.

As a result of searching the shed and residence the following items of evidence were found: approximately one ounce of methamphetamine packaged in various quantities (street value of $3,600), $4,00 believed to be proceeds of drug sales, a scale, packaging material related to methamphetamine, owe sheets displaying money owed for drugs, documents related to Grynstal and television monitors which were wired to exterior cameras.

The suspects, Grynstal and Kauffman, were taken into custody and transported to Berks County Central Processing for arraignment.
