Car travels over embankment, enters stream
EARL TWP, Nov. 14 – A one-car crash occurred on New Holland Road at 6:14 p.m. on Nov. 14. New Holland Police reported that the driver, Stuart Leathead, 52, of New Holland was traveling south when he drove off the right shoulder of the roadway, over an embankment and into a small stream, where his vehicle became disabled. Leathead stated that he began sneezing as he entered the curve, and he lost control. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.
Three-car collision on Railroad Avenue
EARL TWP, Nov. 15 – New Holland Police responded to the 500 Block of N. Railroad Avenue after a three-car accident on Nov. 15 at 11:15 a.m. Driver Brian Bricker, 45, of Ephrata was traveling south behind driver Robert Beaver Jr., 44, of New Holland. Bricker failed to stop for slowing traffic and swerved to the left, striking the vehicle of Kaitlin Groff, 23, of East Earl. After striking Groff, Bricker’s vehicle also sideswiped Beaver’s vehicle. No injuries or towing were reported. Bricker will be cited for the incident.
Two-car crash at Custer Avenue intersection
EARL TWP, Nov. 14 – New Holland Police Officer Willwerth reported a two-vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Orlan Road and S. Custer Avenue on Nov. 14 at 6:18 a.m. Driver Samantha Nesspor, 22, of Birdsboro was stopped at a stop sign on Orlan Road. Nesspor stated that she spilled her coffee and became distracted while turning left on S. Custer Avenue. This caused her to cut the turn short and collide with the vehicle of driver Bismar Rodriguez-Sanchez, 45, of Lancaster. Rodriguez-Sanchez’s vehicle would not start after the accident, and he arranged a private tow. No injuries were reported, and no one was charged.
Drivers collide in Amelia’s parking lot
EARL TWP, Nov. 13 – At 5:45 p.m. on Nov. 13, New Holland Police responded to a collision in the parking lot of Amelia’s Grocery, located on W. Main Street. Driver Donald Maitland, 57, of New Holland was driving through the lot, cutting through parking spaces, and failed to see the vehicle of Karen Nolt, 37, of Paradise. Maitland struck the side of Nolt’s vehicle, causing minor damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported, and neither vehicle required towing.
Attempted burglary at West Main Street residence
NEW HOLLAND BORO, Nov. 13 – New Holland Police responded to the report of an attempted burglary that occurred on Nov. 13 at 2:35 p.m. The complainant, Jo Suraci, who owns the West Main Street building, noticed pry marks on the back door around the lock. The actor(s) failed to gain entry but left $150 in damage to the wooden frame around the door.
Tractor-trailer backs into vehicle at Tower Road intersection
EARL TWP, Nov. 13 – At 10:15 a.m. on Nov. 13, New Holland Police responded to the intersection of Weaverland Road and N. Tower Road for a two-vehicle collision. A tractor-trailer driven by Otoniel Manzano of Parsippany, NJ was stopped at the intersection. Roxie Brubaker of East Earl was stopped in her vehicle behind Manzano, who was attempting to locate an address. Manzano began backing up the tractor-trailer and struck the front of Brubaker’s vehicle. No injuries were reported, and neither vehicle was towed.
