Penn State Extension is hosting a workshop, “Shale Mineral Management: Understanding Your Royalty Check” on Monday, Jan. 26 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Penn State Berks Campus, Perkins Student Center Multi-purpose room, Tulpehocken Rd., Reading.

Are you as a landowner receiving royalty checks and not fully understanding how the current trends and production figures mesh with your royalty payments? Do you have questions on how to interpret the information provided on your royalty stubs? Expert speakers Matt Henderson, Shale Gas Assets Manager, Penn State Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research (MCOR), and Steven Karabin, PNGE, RL, President of the Rhino Group, LLC, will provide a comprehensive program to help royalty owners see and understand how current drilling production and utilization trends can affect their royalties. Steven, who also holds a B.S. in Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering from PSU and has worked in the field, will provide great insight for landowners in relating operations to royalties. Important mineral management resources available to the landowner to assist in reviewing their lease and royalty payments will be discussed. Experts will help to unravel the mystery of royalty pay stubs, a high interest topic for many landowners. A look at royalty calculations and decline curves in Pennsylvania will also be discussed.

The workshop is sponsored by William G. Koch & Associates. Representatives from this firm will also be on hand to field any royalty tax related questions.

This workshop is a must for landowners who are receiving royalty payments or are involved in an active unit of the Shale play and seek a better understanding of how their royalty payments are calculated and other factors considered in the determination of payment.

Registration and additional information for the workshop may be found at http://extension.psu.edu/natural-gas/events While the event is free through the generosity of the sponsor, pre-registration is required and may be done online at the above link.
