Montgomery County officials have issued a Code Blue cold weather warning starting Tuesday, Dec. 30 night due to anticipated low temperatures. The warning goes into effect at 9 p.m. and ends at 9 a.m. on Friday.

The county issues a Code Blue weather warning for residents without shelter who may face death or serious harm from the cold weather. The warning is issued when the combined air temperature and wind chill is expected to be less than 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Shelters are put on alert to expect more people to come in.

According to the county’s website, residents who need shelter can go to the County Homeless Outreach Center (CHOC) in Building 53 on the grounds of the Norristown State Hospital. CHOC is a 50-bed shelter for single residents. Families who need shelter can go to the Salvation Army in Norristown and Pottstown.
