A fatal accident occurred Tuesday morning, Jan. 13 at approximately 6:13 a.m. on Route 183 (Bernville Road) in Jefferson Township.
Pennsylvania State Police report that a 23-year-old male driver from Reading, name withheld until proper notification is completed, was traveling northbound on Route 183 south of Dry Hollow Road in Jefferson Twp. While approaching the crest of a hill in a no passing zone, the driver attempted to pass another vehicle. While merging back into the northbound lane, the 23-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle and traveled sideways into the oncoming, southbound lane.
The passenger side of the vehicle was struck by tractor trailer driven by Adam Moyer, 30, of Bethel
The 23-year-old driver was deceased on scene. Moyer was not injured.
