World Rhythms: Artist in Residence brings bucket drumming to students

Artist in Residence Program: A Bucket Drumming Ensemble Program for sixth grade Reiffton students, running from Jan. 6 through Feb. 26, 2015, under the guidance of musician Leon Jordan, Sr.. This program will culminate with a school assembly at 1:45 p.m. and parent /community performance 6 p.m. on Feb. 26 (Feb. 27 snow date) by Reiffton Drumming Ensemble.

A district-wide / community concert featuring Leon Jordan, Sr. and Renaissance Jazz will be held at Exeter Junior High School on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. and will be open to the public. The Reiffton Bucket Drumming Ensemble will be featured at the concert. Family and general admission seating available.

Reading Pennsylvania, Jan. 4, 2015: Program Highlights:

* Visiting Artist – Leon Jordan Sr. Mr. Jordan has been a full time professional musician and educator for the past 20 years. He has performed with Chaka Kahn, Grover Washington Jr., and George Benson.

* Leon Jordan and Renaissance Jazz Concert. Thursday, Jan. 29 @ 7 p.m. Exeter Junior High School Auditorium.

* 5 interactive “World Rhythms” bulletin boards with QR codes throughout the Reiffton School.

* Introductory and Closing assemblies for all 640 Reiffton students

* Sixth grade Bucket Drumming ensemble is comprised of 38 students

* Visual art – designing and decorating buckets to be used in performances.

The Reiffton School partnered with Berks Arts Council, Pa. Council on the Arts, Exeter Community Education Foundation, Reiffton School APT, The Home Depot, Exeter Dairy Queen
