Berks County cattle feeder Bill Palmer was elected president of the Berks Southeast Cattlemen’s Association at the reorganizational meeting last month. Palmer farms with his family in the Shartlesville area. He replaces Jack Reinford of Birdsboro who has served the organization as president for several years. Other officers elected at the December meeting were: Kevin Guldin, Oley, vice president; Sheila Miller, Womelsdorf, secretary; and Janet Trusty, Mohnton, treasurer.
New directors elected during the Association’s annual membership meeting in November are: Mike Braucher, Mohrsville; Ron DeFulvio, Kutztown; Larry Gelsinger, Wernersville; Sheila Miller, Womelsdorf; and David Weaver, Kutztown. Five directors are elected annually on the 15-member Board and may serve two consecutive terms. Certificates of Appreciation were presented to retiring directors: Harold Strause, vice president, Shoemakersville; William Trusty, Mohnton; Sally Reinford, secretary, Birdsboro, and Richard and Vivian Faust, Sinking Spring. These individuals have served the Association for many years and their contributions to the organization are greatly appreciated. Director Sam Stump, Mohrsville, represents the Association as a director on state Cattlemen’s Board.
The Berks Southeast Cattlemen’s Association is a non-profit organization that promotes the regions beef cattle industry, informs and educates the general public about the nutritional value of beef, encourages youth to participate in programs and activities related to beef, and assists beef producers through meetings, tours, field days, and other activities. Membership is open to anyone involved in producing beef cattle, or an affiliated industry. The annual dues include both the local and state Cattlemen’s Association membership.
