The King’s Academy, in Mohrsville, suffered an estimated $100,000 in damage from a fire that affected the high school classrooms on Feb. 9 at 12:50 a.m. The school was unoccupied at the time and no fire related injuries were reported according to the State Police at Reading.

“We are deeply touched and humbled by the outpouring of love and prayers to our community. Thank you for the amazing response of care and support,” said the school on its Facebook page.

State Police reported that the investigation into the fire showed that it began inside one of the high school classrooms along the wall and that all indications are that the fire was accidental and electrical in nature. Multiple fire companies were called and responded to the scene. The companies were able to confine the damage to mostly the one classroom, which was destroyed by the fire. Approximately seven classrooms were damaged as a result of the heat and smoke from the fire. As a result, floors in the classrooms suffered structural damage and some suffered water damage as well as smoke damage.

The school has received numerous responses on its Facebook page since reporting the fire and is currently asking the community for any help it can offer.

“Thank you all so much for all your prayers and offers to help us during this difficult time. We are overwhelmed with gratitude and the Mercy and Grace God is showing us,” posted the school. “If you wish to offer services or materials, please contact us [at] tkaoffice@kingsacademy.com.”
