The “Ringing of the Bells” brought Kutztonians out in the snow to celebrate the 200th birthday of Kutztown.

Volunteers all over town rang the bells in various churches and the Kutztown Area Historical Society. The Kutztown Fire Company crew rang their fire bell, and some people rang bells in their back yards and porches.

“This was a great way to start the bicentennial year,” said bicentennial committee chairman Craig A. Koller. “People of all ages came out for the event, even in the snow. I hope we rang winter away. We’ll see.”

If you’d like to join the bicentennial committee, the next meeting is Tuesday, March 10 at 7 p.m. at the Kutztown Area Historical Society. To keep up to date on bicentennial happenings, “friend” us on Facebook or click on the bicentennial link on the Borough of Kutztown webpage www.kutztownboro.org.
