NORRISTOWN >> A Berks County man pleaded guilty on Monday to having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.

Tyler Patrick Osborne, 20, of Boyertown, pleaded guilty to one count of statutory sexual assault, a second degree felony, on Monday in front of Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Judge Garrett Page. Osborne was remanded to prison pending the posting of $10,000 cash for bail. If Osborne gets out, he is ordered to not have any contact with the victim.

He will be sentenced after a pre-sentencing investigation report is completed. The report will detail his criminal and personal background. The report is completed by the county’s adult probation office and can take up to three months to complete.

The victim’s parents first went to Lower Providence police on Jan. 3, 2014 to report their daughter was missing. One of the officers was at the victim’s home when the victim and Osborne arrived. The officer told Osborne not to have any more contact with the victim.

On Aug. 19, 2014 the victim came with her parents to the Lower Providence Police Station to report that she had been having sex with Osborne. She told police that in July she became pregnant with Osborne’s child. The victim’s parents found out she was pregnant while they were on vacation and the victim became sick all day.

The victim told police she met Osborne on Facebook. She said he sent her a friend request and saw they had mutual friends. She said she also knew that some of her friends had spoken to him before. She said that Facebook was the main way they communicated.

The arresting affidavit does not say when the pair first met in person. Investigators spoke with two of the victim’s friends who knew about the relationship.

Police later spoke with Osborne who admitted to have a sexual relationship with the victim in Lower Providence and at his home in Boyertown.
