Anglers who are looking forward to the opening day of trout season in April can now obtain a free 2015 adult trout stocking schedule by visiting the Ontelaunee Township office of Rep. Barry Jozwiak (R-Berks) or going to his website at www.RepJozwiak.com.

“We’re happy to provide printed copies of the schedules at our office,” said Jozwiak, who serves on the House Game and Fisheries Committee and recently attended a meeting where the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission delivered its annual report. “Trout fishing is a proud tradition that some families pass down from one generation to the next.”

More than 700 streams and 120 lakes will be stocked as a part of the commission’s 2015 adult trout stocking program. The PFBC will stock nearly 3 million adult trout in Pennsylvania rivers and streams that are open to the public for fishing.

Approximately 53 percent of the trout are stocked prior to opening day, 43 percent are stocked between opening day and the end of May, and the remaining 4 percent are stocked from October through February of the following year.

Opening Day of trout season will be Saturday, April 4, for Pennsylvania’s southeastern counties, including Berks County. The rest of the state will open on Saturday, April 18.

Copies of the trout stocking schedules, including a searchable database, can be found online at www.RepJozwiak.com. A limited number of hard copies of the trout stocking schedules may also be obtained at Jozwiak’s office located in the Cross Keys Center at 16-B Margaret Lane in Ontelaunee Township.

“Our office is here to help with trout stocking schedules and a variety of other programs and services,” Jozwiak said. “We hope people will stop in to learn more about what we have to offer.”
