A former Bally resident was sentenced to six to 23 months in prison after pleading guilty to committing a burglary with her son.

Mellany Knobl, 41, pleaded on charges of burglary and conspiracy for a July 18, 2012, break-in of a home in Washington Township on Old Route 100, according to court documents.

The burglary was one of seven allegedly committed by Kobl’s son, Myles Dawson. Earlier in the month, Dawson pleaded guilty to multiple counts of burglary, conspiracy and theft, for which he was sentenced to two to 10 years in prison, according to court documents.

The series of burglaries took place between April and July. After the burglary for which Knobl pleaded guilty, the owner reported jewelry, coins, a shotgun and several antique collectible items missing, police said.

As police were investigating Dawson, they discovered that his mother, Knobl, may have been involved in some of the burglaries. Police searched the Bally home where the two were living and among the items found was a computer with photographs of the antique collectibles taken from the Washington Township home.

Knobl was arrested in November 2012 and waived her formal hearing in March 2013. After she failed to appear for a status hearing, a bench warrant was issued and bail was revoked. Knobl and Dawson were found Dec. 30, 2014 in Guamas, Mexico.

On Feb. 17, Knobl was sentenced to six to 23 months in county prison. She was also ordered to pay about $4,500 in court costs and retribution and will serve five years of probation following her time in prison, court documents said.
