Reading >> Berks County Detectives have procured warrants for 28 people in a drug roundup, including a teenage girl and a man from Boyertown.

A woman from Birdsboro was among 16 that had been arrested by Wednesday morning.

The warrants were the result of a year-long investigation, police said, based on confidential tips from Berks County residents, according to a press release from the Berks County District Attorney’s Office.

“During the investigation, undercover detectives purchased amounts of controlled substances with street values ranging from $40 to $1500 dollars from the suspects,” the release from D.A. John Adams stated.

According to the release:Christopher W. Smith, 44, and Jessica Lynn Smith, 32, both of the 500 block of High Street in Birdsboro, were arrested at their home on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, according to police.

Seth Kennedy, 18, of the 1800 block of State Street in Alburtis, was arrested on the 1500 block of Kutztown Road in Lyons on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver heroin and methamphetamine, police said.

A warrant has been issued for Edward Lawrence Lucas, 43, of the unit block of South Grinsmill Road in Boyertown, for charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, police said.

Another warrant was issued for the arrest of a 16-year-old girl from Boyertown for charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver marijuana, police said.

Many of the remaining warrants were issued for Reading, along with one each from Allentown, Orwigsburg, Hamburg, Muhlenberg Township, Mt. Penn and Kutztown, according to police. There was also one arrested with no known address, and one arrested whose last official address was at Graterford Prison, where he spent time on unrelated charges.

Those arrested were sent to Central Processing, while 12 remained at large as of noon Wednesday. There were charges for possession and possession with intent to deliver heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana and prescription drugs, police said.
