The Arts Barn Gallery announces Spring 2015 reopening with new artists and art tour

The Arts Barn Gallery, a Schuylkill County fine art and crafts center, welcomes new artists and a new gallery look for its Spring 2015 reopening and participation as one of six featured venues in the Schuylkill County Spring Thaw Arts and Culture Tour.

The Arts Barn has been preparing for its April 5 reopening by welcoming new artists who will displaying and sell their work in the redesigned gallery. Spring hours will be: Saturdays, Noon – 5 p.m.; Sundays, Noon – 5 p.m.; and Mondays, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.

New artists include:Judie Zimmerman from Schuylkill Haven with incredible pencil drawings and portraits (will do commissions)

Joe Cawthern from New Ringgold with quality hand made furniture (will do custom pieces and installations)

Mariann Young from Pottsville with gorgeous and unique beaded jewelry and purses

Hannah Harris from Fleetwood with adorable handmade “critters”

Gail Savage from Bethel with unbelievable and unique feather painting

Erin Simmons from Glenside with really fun and beautiful egg shell jewelry

Sheila Grube from Orwigsburg with Zentangle(c) done on vintage windows. She is also teaching this very unique and fascinating art form

Andrew Juers from Shoremanstown with vintage-look laser engraved photos on burlap and canvas

Richelle Leigh Walk from Harrisburg with exquisite gemstone jewelry

Haley Stokes a talented Blue Mountain student with her unique drawings

The Arts Barn is one of six venues participating in Schuylkill County’s three-day 2015 Spring Thaw Arts and Culture Tour presented by Celebrate Schuylkill and the Schuylkill County Visitor’s Bureau.

The Arts Barn hours of operation during the tour will be:

Friday April 10, 6:30 – 9 p.m.Saturday April 11, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Sunday April 12, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Artist demos including feather painting and chainsaw carving will be feature, with complimentary Food and wine, and FREE GIFT with purchase offered.

The other five venues include: The Walk In Art Center, Mud & Maker, Tamaqua Art Center, Block of Art and Mountain Valley Golf Course with locations in Pottsville, Tamaqua, Schuylkill Haven, Orwigsburg and Barnesville.

The goal of the tour is to highlight and promote the unique creative culture and heritage of Schuylkill County. The tour coincides with the Yuengling Light Lager Jogger 5k race, held Saturday April 11, which starts and finishes at America’s oldest brewery in Pottsville.

The tour is available as a self-guided experience, with free parking at all locations, or via Trolley for a fee. To purchase limited availability trolley tickets, contact 484-650-2745. Festivities kick off on Thursday April 9, with a 6 p.m. free pasta and Craft Beer party hosted by the Oak Hill Inn of Orwigsburg.

The Arts Barn gallery in Schuylkill Haven, represents more than 100 local Pennsylvania artists and artisans displaying fine arts and crafts in a serene country setting, located just outside historic Orwigsburg. Artwork is uniquely displayed among local antiques available for purchase.
