On June 21, musicians and music lovers will gather in the Upper Perkiomen Valley to participate in the third annual Make Music Upper Perk.

The one-day music festival is founded on the desire to spread music throughout the world, starting at the level of the local community. The concerts, which will be located at sites along or near Route 29 between Red Hill and East Greenville, are all free and open to the public.

Make Music Upper Perk will feature musicians of all ages, both amateurs and professionals, performing a variety of genres including: rock, bluegrass, classical, instrumental, vocal, folk and sacred. Registration for musicians is now open until April 30 at ValleyArtScene.wordpress.com and musicians are invited to play for 30- or 60-minute segments. Musicians requiring electricity or pianos are also encouraged. Groups of diverse genres and performers of all abilities are welcome – the fundamental purpose of the event is to enjoy music and enhance its role in our community.

In addition to calling on performers, we invite interested community members to join the MMUP fundraising event happening at Art on Main studios in East Greenville. On April 19 aspiring artists will be painting a music-themed piece of art work. To register for the painting event, contact Art on Main at (267) 377-5731. Funds raised will be used to support this year’s event.

Make Music Upper Perk is co-sponsored by ValleyArtScene, FAME and Grace Notes Piano Studio. For more information on this exciting day of festivities and other ways to get involved, follow Make Music Upper Perk on Facebook and ValleyArtScene.wordpress.com, as well as on Twitter @MakeMusicUP.
