By all appearances, the Second Annual Folk Fotos’ Easter Egg Hunt in Leesport on Saturday, April 4, was all about family. But despite many of the volunteers being family members of Folk Fotos’ owner, Laurie Folk, the volunteers confirmed that the event is just another display of what Folk does for the community.

Jessica Folk, of Fleetwood, said, “It’s awesome what Laurie does for the community and her clients.”

Lori’s mother, Yvonne Smith, Leesport, agreed. She stated that “it’s a great thing. I’m very proud of my daughter for giving back to the community.”

Matt Folk, Laurie Folk’s husband, also volunteered at the event, and helped to organize an overwhelming crowd that gathered for the hunt on Main Street, dividing them into age groups in the grass that wrapped around the Folk home and photography studio.

Well over one hundred families came out despite the low temperatures and the windy afternoon. They were greeted by volunteers and then treated to a visit with the Easter Bunny, including free photo opportunities for people who wanted a souvenir of their day.

Caitlin Keim took advantage of the chance to introduce her daughter, Brielle, age 1, to the Easter Bunny at the Folk event.

Egg hunts offered age-appropriate treats for the children, but also included the adults in attendance. As Bryson Davis, age 6, from West Lawn, said, “I like candy in the eggs!”

Every family received a ticket upon their arrival for raffles of prizes that ranged up to a free photo shoot by Folk. Folk Foto had the last detail covered by offering souvenir bibs for the babies in attendance, including Gavin Dawson, age five months, who was accompanied by his mother, Erica Dawson, to the event.

Folk herself summed up her philosophy about providing the generous offering for so many people in her community and beyond when she declared, “it’s just about the kids.”
